Our Background

Anton Collins Mitchell LLP ("ACM") was organized in July, 2002 by three former partners of BDO Seidman, LLP, with over 70 years combined public accounting experience, to acquire BDO Seidman, LLP's Denver practice. The founding partners of ACM wanted to direct their services and resources to the needs of their Rocky Mountain clients, provide for local decision making, create new opportunities for their people and retain access to the worldwide network of BDO when additional expertise or resources were mandated. ACM is committed to providing the most trusted, relationship-based accounting and tax services available anywhere.

As an independent member of the BDO Seidman Alliance, ACM has continuing access to BDO's technical manuals, training, quality assurance methodologies and other Alliance member services. However, since we are able to purchase services from BDO on an as needed basis and do not have to carry national firm overhead, we can compete on a fee basis with larger local firms, most of whom do not have the depth of resources available to ACM.

ACM's partners and other professionals have unsurpassed expertise in their respective discipline:

  • Greg Anton was the audit director of BDO's Denver office. He teaches SEC courses for the Colorado Society of CPA's and consults and acts as an expert regarding application of complex generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Jim Collins was the tax director of BDO's Denver office for over twenty years and has international tax experience. He also provides due diligence services on complex business transactions.

  • Gary Mitchell has served as managing partner of his own firm, managing partner of BDO's Denver office and as a regional managing partner for BDO. He has significant expertise in organizational structure and business management.

  • Melissa Hooley has over 17 years of experience serving clients on various plan qualifications issues, reporting requirements and other regulatory matters. She developed and directed a highly specialized qualified and welfare benefit practice for the Rocky Mountain Region providing services for more than 200 benefit plans. She has also helped develop and present national training programs for employee benefit plan auditors.

  • Tim McCutcheon is Partner in Charge of the Nonprofit Organizations Practice of Anton Collins Mitchell LLP (ACM). The Nonprofit Organizations Practice focuses solely on providing audit, tax and consulting services to not-for-profit organizations and was created by combining McCutcheon & Company (a premier CPA firm serving only NPOs) with the nonprofit practice area of ACM. Prior to founding McCutcheon & Company, Mr. McCutcheon was a senior shareholder and director of Kundinger, McCutcheon, Corder & Engle, P.C. (KMCE), where his practice focused exclusively on the non-profit sector. Prior to joining KMCE, Mr. McCutcheon was the Chief Financial, Administrative and Planning Officer of a large nonprofit organization. He began his career in public accounting with Price Waterhouse & Co. in Denver.
