Brett has over 16 years of experience in accounting, auditing, SEC reporting and management consulting. Brett began his career as a CPA with Price Waterhouse in New York where he specialized in serving financial services clients, including mutual funds, hedge funds, investment partnerships, investment advisers and service organizations. In 1996, Brett relocated to Denver where he worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers until 2003. From 2003 to 2006, Brett worked as Vice President of Finance with a publicly-held travel management company based in Denver, Colorado. In December 2006, he joined ACM.
While at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Brett served as the lead senior manager in developing and directing a highly specialized investment performance measurement services practice for the West Region, which included Arizona, California and Colorado. He was also selected to serve and did serve on the national steering committee to address evolving audit and industry issues, establish continuing education programs and author firm guidance for the investment management industry group.
During Brett's tenure as Vice President of Finance for the travel management company, he directed all financial reporting, including registration statements on Forms S-1 and S-3, 8-K filings and proxy statement filings. He also supervised the preparation and submission of all periodic reports to the SEC on Forms 10-Q and 10-K. Additionally, he was responsible for cash management activities, equipment leasing arrangements and the company's compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Brett served as the company's expert on accounting matters and business valuation as it related to the company's mergers and acquisition activities.
Throughout his career, Brett authored and instructed numerous continuing education courses for various audiences, including boards of directors and National Regulatory Services.
