Experience:
specializing in qualified and welfare benefit plan services. Her career as a CPA began with Arthur Andersen Worldwide in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1988. In 1993, Melissa relocated to Denver where she worked with Andersen until 2002 and joined ACM in February 2003.

While at Andersen, and now at ACM, Melissa has developed and directed a highly specialized qualified and welfare benefit plan audit practice for the Rocky Mountain region and has served 100+ business clients and provided audit services for more than 250 benefit plans. Melissa has provided services to some of the largest pension plans in the region. She has successfully consulted with clients of various sizes on plan-related matters including compliance issues, plan design and financial reporting issues.

Melissa is also experienced in working with clients on a variety of plan qualification issues (i.e., identification, correction and resolution procedures with governmental agencies), preparation and/or review of Form 5500 filings, due diligence reviews, and operational reviews. She has also worked with governmental plans on GASB financial reporting requirements.

Developing good working relationships with clients is of primary importance to Melissa. She joined ACM to be part of a smaller firm with that strong client orientation and with the international resources the BDO Seidman affiliation offers her and her clients.

Melissa has developed and presents national training programs for employee benefit plan auditors and consultants. She is a member of a national technical team responsible for development of firm-wide audit policies, procedures and training programs and participated as a member of a practice review expert team in this area. Melissa has been a guest speaker on qualified plan matters at the annual Western Pension Benefits Conference, the American Women’s Society of CPA’s annual conference, and the AICPA Employee Benefits annual conference.
